ABOUT EUROCO
Euroco’s mission is to apply the latest technologies to the sustainable and widespread use of wood in human constructions. Under the guidance of our company’s founder Dr. Ginis, we have been able to offer solid wooden foundations to great architecture, great engineering and craftsmanship. The industrial methods we use are gaining ground in the technical world. More and more young architects and engineers understand that wood’s potential goes far beyond ceilings and floors!
Euroco’s Mile (-wood) stones! From our early days we focused on the re-launching of wood as an efficient, affordable, durable and pleasing structural material for big construction projects. To succeed we had to study and experiment. We also had to adopt technology and know-how from global leaders. The results –our projects- attest to the values we managed to establish.
In 1990 we participated in the research, the design and construction of the first all-wood settlement in Xanthi, Greece.
In 1993, we constructed the roofing at the multi-million housing project for Greek nationals repatriating from ex-soviet union countries. We did the same for the earthquake victims’ settlements in Northern Greece two years later.
The city of Thessaloniki was appointed Cultural Capital of Europe in1997 and Euroco was called upon to provide expert advise and techniques for the restoration of important buildings. We had the honor to perform the diagnostic tests and the restoration of old wooden buildings in the district of Ano Poli (the Byzantine and Ottoman era’s Upper Town), the Ladadika district (the oldest marketplace in Thessaloniki), the city’s Port warehouses, the stage floor of the Royal Theatre and many more.
Responding to the growth of Tourism in Greece, from the mid ‘90s on, Euroco developed new products and techniques and applied them in hotels in every part of the country: HYATT, GOLDEN BEACH RHODES, ALDEMAR, SANI, THERMAI SYLLA, GRECOTEL, ATRIUM and more.
Euroco participated in the Athens 2004 Olympic Games as a wood champion! We constructed the roofs for the Olympic Village and the Journalists’ Village, all the wooden paneling at the Rowing Centre, and the bridges and spectators’ seats at the Canoe-kayak complex.
In 2004, we built new facilities at the Industrial Zone of Sindos, Thessaloniki and started working for the railway stations of the Athens-Piraeus Electric Railways and a large number of wooden roofs for gyms ordered by the School Building Authority.
In 2005, Euroco proved its expertise and production capacity by completing in just two months a very demanding project – the Mediterranean Cosmos Shopping Mall covering 11.000 sq m full of wooden construction of the highest standards. Yet another experience for us was the all-wood construction of the Snow-clearing Stations of the Egnatia Highway –they came out nicely and were praised for their aesthetics.
